Samuel Deléglise is a former student of École Polytechnique and was recruited as a permanent researcherin 2012 at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, in the OMQ group. He achieved a PhD thesis in the group ofSerge Haroche on Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics with Rydberg atoms, where he obtained severalcutting-edge results, notably the experimental realization of a quantum non-demolition measurementtechnique that allowed the first observation of the quantum jumps of light and the full reconstruction ofseveral non-classical states of the field. He then studied optomechanical coupling in whispering gallery modemicrocavities in the group of Tobias Kippenberg at EPFL. His contributions included the first observation of Optomechanically Induced Transparency. This phenomenon, considered as the strict optomechanical analogue of Electromagnetically Induced Transparency, illustrates the close link between optomechanical systems and atomic physics.
